Taj Mahal, Agra, India

The Taj Mahal is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture. This marble edifice is a mausoleum located in Agra, India, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Building of the Taj began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, and employed thousands of artisans and craftsmen.

"The sight of this mansion creates sorrowing sighs;
And the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes.
In this world this edifice has been made;
To display thereby the creator's glory."

-Emperor Shah Jahan

  1. Color me jealous if you were just there taking these. Hopefully, if you were, you didn't experience any of the problems out of Mumbai.

    Nice photos, and keep safe.

  2. The Taj Mahal as the one of the most amazing places the photograph. I suspect anyone could spend hours, if not days, taking photographs.

    However, I don't think I've ever seen a photograph of the rear of the building. It might make an interesting perspective.
